Having worked in Africa and Asia in Humanitarian Aid, I found that engaging in art in my spare moments gave me brief and enjoyable respite from the tumultuous world outside in whichever country I was in. I particularly enjoy working with stained glass and creating energy and movement in a very beautiful medium. Every three dimensional design is different and unique and find homes, either as garden art or more often for the interior. The sculptures start with either an event from my past I would like to convey or from a more natural process of seeing what shapes occur from using the trees and objects in my garden to shape the frames before cutting and welding together. The glass pieces are then traditionally leaded and soldered in place and fixed with waterproof glass cement. They are best placed where natural or artificial light can shine through them showing off the multitude of colours and textures involved in each piece.
